What is Mxfits?
Mxfits Roller Derby is a gender-expansive roller derby league in Ontario, Canada founded in late 2024.
We began as a handful of skaters who loved to scrimmage together with the intention to select a team based on chemistry, coach-ability and attitude rather than skill. We picked the first 10 skaters, and then took skater nominations to get us to the initial 40 members to give us the numbers needed to host in-house scrimmages as part of our practice plans. The dream was clinic style practices once a month and maybe one day we would play a game.
From there, things evolved very quickly into a true derby collective. Along the way we got some things wrong, and we got some things right. In our first year we hosted 4 clinics, trained officials, played 7 scrimmages and our first official game. We got coached by incredible trainers, and ran our first Camp & Clinic Weekend on what felt like the hottest weekend of the year. 2025 was chaos, heartbreak, joy, fun and more derby love than we could ever have hoped for. We learned a lot along the way.
Today, we welcome skaters across a wide variety of levels who are committed to developing strong technical skills and a strategic understanding of flat track roller derby. Our target audience is skaters in the High C to High B skill range, but we have outliers in either direction and exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. We recognize that every skater on the track comes from a different background and has a unique perspective. They have different sports histories and have been coached by different people, and that gives us an incredible opportunity to learn from each other.
We are here for smart derby. We want to develop skaters with the flexibility to shift on the fly between a running game and a soul crushing grinder, all with a smile on their face. We don't just run plays, we understand why they work, and can adapt existing skills for new challenges.
We continue to host scrimmages, clinics and camps designed to build on your existing skills towards your goals. If you want to grow as a skater, a leader on the track, a coach or trainer, an official or just skate for the joy of it with people who love the game like you love the game, that's what we're here for.
Mxfits Roller Derby plays according to the Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby under the current WFTDA Ruleset and Statement about Gender.
